A4 4-6-2 60019 Bittern at Conington on the Scarborough Flyer on Thursday 29th of April 2010.

This train had been booked to water at Holme, but was changed at the last moument to take water at Conington tip siddings. It was running on this trip with just its own tender. It had just left its water stop, but now had a red signal ahead for the exit of the down slow onto the two track part of the ECML though Holme Fen and past Yaxley

The fireman has just added more coal to the fire, just as little bit power was as needed by the driver.

Conington

Conington is a small village that never had a station in the Huntingdonshire district of Cambridgeshire. The village is a long way from the crossing. This railway crossing is to the south of Holme vilage. Conington Airfield or as it is now called Peterborough Business Airport is between the crossing and Holme vilage and light aircraft take off and land over the ECML.

Holme village is just to the north of  the Conington crossing and Mainline steam trains stop between Conington and Holme on the down slow and going south (up) in the Conington tip loops.

Signal boxes that were along this part of the ECML
This website is ukraiways1970tilltoday.me.uk it is a web site on railways, but it is not just on trains, but all things railways, with photos, which I have taken from the 1970s till now. I take photos of all things railways, steam diesel and electric trains, signal boxes, wagons any thing that is on the National Rail network, which was still  British Rail when I started taken photos.

Today Virgin East Coast East Midland trains and GBRf are just some of the names on the trains. The name on the train does not mean, thats whos train it is these days. These names keep changing, but that means I have to keep taking photos. I also take photos of preserved railways with steam diesel and electric trains. There is lots more to add and I keep taking More!
