Stage 1 of the overhead wires
Class 312 EMU at Kings Cross
When the first stage of the overhead wires to Royston were in place these class 312 EMUs were used.
The then un-restored St Pancras station which is now the London terminus of High Speed 1 is in the background
Head codes were still in use on the Class 312 EMU at Kings Cross

The Class 312 were the last class which were built with the Mark 2 body shell with slam doors. The class 312s were built between 1975 and 1978 for outer-suburban passenger services

This website is Ukrailways1970tilltoday.me.uk it is on railways, but it is not just on trains, but all things railways, with photos, which I have taken from the 1970s till now. Today Virgin  East Coast, GBRF and Great Northern are just some of the names on the trains. The name on the train does not mean, thats whos train it is these days.
