class 08 comes over the High Street level Crossing

A class 08 comes over the High Street level Crossing with a train of 16 ton steel mineral wagons in 1977.

The only things to have changed in this view be for the major resignalling is that there were crossing gates, instead of the barriers that are here now. Note the road type traffic lights to help stop the traffic on the gate post. I am standing on the old footbridge to take this photo. . This has now been removed. After many years of trying to get it put back, a new footbridge is at last being built here.

The foot bridge at this end of the station has now also gone.
