 The bay platform 1         ( page 4 of 4 )

2000 till 2013

Heritage Railways

As part of a new platform layout at Peterborough station in 2014 some of the platforms numbers have now been changed '
This bay platform that was numbered one, had its track removed in late 2013 ,as part of a new platform layout at Peterborough station. Because of this Platform 2 will now in 2014 become platform 1.
Peterborough 1970s  till  1999 (BR)
Peterborough 2000 till 2013
 Peterborough 2014 till today
Peterborough on this site is in now in three parts BR 1970 to 1999 and 2000 till 2014 and 2014 till today

Note that only the other side platform is used. the doors only opening that side. A wire fence has now  been added along this side. I am standing in the car park which I had paid over the odds to use. But the car park was always full in the week, be for more car parking was added.

WAGN or West Anglia Great Northern to give its full title was the train operating company that from 1994 till 2006 ran the Great Northern local services and commuter services as well as trains from Kings Lynn and Cambridge to London.

Most of the Great Northern local services and commuter services from Peterborough to Kings Cross were and still are run with the 365s EMUs.

WAGN did not do a full repaint on the 365s or any painting on these EMUs. In fact looking at the photo above there is little to show that its a WAGN train.

Note the Peterborough station sign is for platform 2 and is blank on this side.

First Capital Connect took over from WAGN. First Capital Connect is still  using the same class 365s but it  repainted them and also its uses class 317 EMUs and 312s .

On Tuesday 13th December 2011 Network Rail announced a 43 million pound upgrade of Peterborough railway station starting in April 2012 and to be completed by December 2013. There is still some work going on in Febuary 2014

The old Platform 2 which is to the left in the photos above has been renumbered as the NEW Platform 1 . This will be then used for the new 12 coach Great Northern servies to South London and Gatwick Airport. The old Platform 1 the up bay platform and has been removed. This was to make what was the old platform 2 longer, now called platform number one.

The bay platform that was numbered one, had its track removed in late 2013 ,as part of a new platform layout at Peterborough station.

This website is  it is on railways, but it is not just on trains, but all things railways, with photos, which I have taken from the 1970s till now. I take photos of all things railways, steam diesel and electric trains, signal boxes, wagons any thing that is on the National Rail network, which was BR when I started taken photos.

Today EWS, East Coast, Central trains and EWS are just some of the names on the trains. The name on the train does not mean, thats whos train it is these days. These names keep changing, but that means I have to keep taking photos. I also take photos of preserved railways with steam diesel and electric trains. There is lots more to add and I keep taking More!
