70013 Oliver Cromwell on The Lindum Christmas Fayre on the 3rd December 2011

video Page

This video can be in seen in 720HD for those of you who have a fast conection. For those of you who have a super fast connection the 1080 HD setting can be used, but this all but a pipe dream for most of us including me. Hopfully we shall all soon have a very fast connection!

Being December it was a very windy day. The flat Fens do nothing to stop the wind. Oliver Cromwell was working hard.

Oliver Cromell is part of the National Collection and was built at Crewe works in 1951. It a British Railways Standard class Britannia 4-6-2 steam locomotive. This train called The Lindum Christmas Fayre was going to have A4 LNER A4 4-6-2 number 4492 Dominion of New Zealand but the locomotive was changed to save a light engine movement.

Yaxley is a village to the south of Peterborough . Yaxley had a railway station which is now closed.

Between Yaxley and Peterborough The London Brick Company made 1,000s of bricks  The ECML was lined with brick works and  pits . This land is now being built on with the Hampton township. There are photos in BR days at Yaxley on this site  Also photos in BR days north of Yaxley at Farcet

Most of the railway line was level with the land when it was built. Over the Years they may have added soil, and ballast to kept the track level. The soil has dropped  in the fens. To day the ECML is on an embankment between Yaxley Holme.

This website is  it is on railways, but it is not just on trains, but all things railways, with photos, which I have taken from the 1970s till now. I take photos of all things railways, steam diesel and electric trains, signal boxes, wagons any thing that is on the National Rail network, which was BR when I started taken photos.

Today EWS, East Coast, Central trains and EWS are just some of the names on the trains. The name on the train does not mean, thats whos train it is these days. These names keep changing, but that means I have to keep taking photos. I also take photos of preserved railways with steam diesel and electric trains. There is lots more to add and I keep taking More!
