Just one of many line ups of LNER locomotives at Barrow Hill over this weekend
The Fab 4 event was held a the Barrow Hill at the former steam roundhouse located at Barrow Hill near Chesterfield. The shed was saved by the Barrow Hill Engine Shed Society. This event was held over 3 days in April 2012. I went on Sunday the 15th of April 2012.
This LNER event was supposed to have had LNER Flying Scotsman just after its multi million pound restoration by the NRM as was the 2009 event. But even after this event was moved from 2011 to April 2012 it was still not ready. The story of multi million pound restoration, that seems to have missed more faults than it found, is all over the railway press and the internet, and I am not going to pass judgement on who was responsible!
The NRM sent 3 of its best steam locomotives to make up for missing A3, A4 4468 Mallard, the world steam speed record holder, which is its star exhibit at the York railway museum (this does not leave the NRM very often) and its LNER V2 4771 Green arrow plus GNR 4-4-2T no.251 in the shed on the turntable.
