4.3 Videos on the main lines
When I took videos in the 1990s not every one had a computer in there own home like they do today. The internet was only dial up speed with video like YouTube some years away. Mobile phones were brick size
BR then ran ALL the trains, and signal boxes looked after track and stations at the start of the 1990s,.
BR would soon be replaced in April 1994 by the likes of RailTrack-Central-WAGN-Anglia Railways-Midland Mainline- Virgin CrossCountry-GNER.
These names are but a few of those who's names have already gone by the wayside, into rail history.
The 4.3 videos that I have uploaded to YouTube were taken with a Hi-8 camcorder. I edited the tapes in real time and made a normal VHS tape and I added CD music to some parts and with me then making a very poor job of the commentary while trying to fade the music and video all at the same time . If you made a poor job of the start you had to do it all over again.
The Hi-8 camcorder broke and I did not replace it while I sill could. When DVD came along I then put these VHS programs onto DVD. YouTube does not let you put copyright music on its site, that you do not own the rights to, and as no one will want to hear my commentary, I can only put some parts up of these videos on its site.
I also have some 8mm cine which may be put up later.
I have now got a new HD camcorder and I have added these HD videos.
I have learned a big lesson and shall keep a up to date copy of the all original footage before I edit it.
Its so much easer now on computer to edit video than it was when I edited my cine in years gone by. You had to cut the film up, then put it somewhere, be for you could find the next bit of film you needed, and then use tape to stick the film back together, no undo them.
Today LNER Grand Central and Great Northern are just some of the names on the trains. The name on the train does not mean, thats whos train it is these days. These names keep changing, but that means I have to keep taking photos. I also take photos of preserved railways with steam diesel and electric trains. There is lots more to add and I keep taking More!
