Class 47s last days ?
Part of the site had stored(?) Diesel locomotives in various states of rust.
Walking round this pat of the Carnforth site was like walking round Barry. All these fine deisel locomotives in a poor state with bits removed, and rust every were, So sad.
Class 47525 at Carnforth had sold on it, but it did not say who to.
This class 47 was to be scrapped at EMR Kigsbury in August 2010.
Class 47236 also has sold on it at Carnforth during the open day
Built at the Brush Falcon Works it entered traffic in October 1965 as D1913. This locomotive had the name "ROVER GROUP QUALITY ASSURED" (1996-99)
This locomotive was scrapped at Ron Hull at Rotherham .
This class 47?36 was little more than a shell with lots of bits being removed.
Class 47 368 had also got sold on it.
Class 47972 at the 2008 open day.

Carnforth Steamtown was one of the main museum site in the UK till around 1997. The major features of the site is its ash plant and the Coaling tower.
These Open days were stopped in 1997 because of commercial activity and the amount of carriages and engines like these on the site.
