The Great Central Railway Class 8K 2-8-0 no. 63601 . This locomotive which was on loan from National Railway Museum.

8F 2-8-0 8624 in LMS red at Loughborough GCR station on the 9th April 2011

8F's were painted black by the LMS and LNER and BR not red.

8F 8624 2-8-0 is the only surviving Sothern built 8F and it was built at Ashford in 1943 during the war by the Southern Railway. It saved from Barry and overhauled at Peak Rail. It was painted in this fictional LMS crimson lake at this time.

The Great Central Railway runs from Loughborough to Leicester North station close to the Leicester outer ring road. There are stations at Rothey and at Quorn & Woodhouse. The head quarters of the railway is at Loughborough were the engine shed is and the main shop ect. The railway has a large collection of steam and diesel engines
