About Ipswich
Ipswich station is on the main line from London Liverpool Street to Norwich. There is a tunnel at the southern end of the station. As well as the trains from London Liverpool Street and Norwich, it also has trains from Cambridge and trains from Ely and Peterborough from the northern end via Bury St Edmunds which leave the main line at Haughley junction north of Stowmarket.
From the southern end of the station as well as the London trains there are local trains from from Harwich and Harwich International (Parkstone Quay) via Manningtree junction. Ipswich also has trains to Lowestoft via the East Suffolk line which leaves the main Norwich line north of the station, at East Suffolk junction. Felixstowe line trains then leave the East Suffolk line at Westerfield junction. Felixstowe has its local serves and now has a lot of container trains from the Felixstowe port branch.
This makes this for a busy station, and Ipswich the hub of this part of Eastern England.
