This train 'The Christmas White Rose' had had started with West Coast locomotive as the main engine with the steam behide it. It came into the loop in March South yard. The idear then was to to run round the diesel and and put it on the rear for the rest of trip to York, while the steam took water in the yard.

The diesel ran into March station and across the cross over stoped and then headed towards Ely past the South Junction signal box. All was going well. Then it all went pear shaped, the crossover would not work. It then took about a hour to deside what to do.

Some one decided to send the steam locomotive and its train to Peterborough picking up the passengers who had been waiting on a cold morning in December for about an hour on the platform at March station and send the Diesel after it and put it on the rear at Peterborough.
