'Diesel Gala 9th April 2016'
Class 60 056
DB class 60 066 on the turntable at Wansford station on Saturday the 9th of April 2016.
DB class 60 066 waits to couple up to the Prototype HST powercar 41001 in Wansford station on Saturday the 9th of April 2016.
The prototype HST power car has buffers and a standard coupling behind a flap. Today's HST's have to use a steel bar kept in the powercar, if they need to be towed, has they have no buffers or coupling.
8 of the production HSTs power cars had buffers and couplings fitted and were used for testing class 91s. They were used with mark 3s, as stop gap DVT on the then new ECML electrification as the mark 4s were still not ready and the class 91 needed testing. The buffers of these power cars were never removed and 6 of these power cars are now with with Grand Central and 2 with Network Rail on their Measurement Train.( as at 2016).
DB class 60 066 and the Prototype HST powercar 41001 out of Wansford station and and over the Nene river bridge past Wansford signal box heading for Peterborough, on Saturday the 9th of April 2016.

The Nene Valley Railway
The Nene Valley Railway runs from Peterborough to Wansford railway station and then on to Yarwell junction. Wansford Station is on part of the old A1 at Stibbingson and is about 2 miles from the village of Wansford itself. The railway line is about 7 1/2 miles long. Trains run at weekends for most of the year.
The station at Wansford railway station is open from around 9am to 4.30 on most days. (check on there web site for times) The line runs trains from this country and also from abroad. As well as steam locomotives it also has main line and industrial diesels. It has wagons and coaches and a large collection of railway bits and bobs. At the Peterborough end of the NVR is the Rail World Museum which is next to the Nene Valley Railways Peterborough station.

Today ,LNER, Hull trains and Greater Anglia are just some of the names on the trains. The name on the train does not mean, thats whos train it is these days. These names keep changing, but that means I have to keep taking photos. I also take photos of preserved railways with steam diesel and electric trains. There is lots more to add and I keep taking More!
