Class 47 at Norwich Station
Class 47 130 into Norwich station
This class 47 130 is coming into Norwich Thorpe station in 1976 from London. Around this time class 47 was used on the main London trains with class 31s on Birmingham trains and first generation DMUs for the local trains.
Class 47130 had the number D1721 when new in in 1964 . It had the number 47130 from 1974. It was cut up in 1990.
Class 03 175 at Norwich station in BR days.
The class 03 175 with its converted Con-flat wagon is passing Norwich Thorpe signal box. Most of class 03s were semi-permanently coupled to a flat wagon which was more than often a converted conflat wagon. This was to help make sure it actuated the signaling circuits. The wagon with this 03 looks like a 3 cement container con flat, its has its three sets of four fixing lugs still in place and is painted yellow.
The van is a Steam heating van used to keep the carriages warm in winter. I think this is ADE 321077. A lot of these steam heating vans were converted from horse vans.
