The class 170 Turbostar diesel multiple
Anglia Railways had ordered two lots of new Turbostars from Bombardier Transportation of class 170/2. The first were class 170 201-208 were of three car units . Four of these 170s went from 2002 till 2004 on hire to Hull Trains for use on the ECML from Hull to Kings Cross in London. These four were later returned when Hull Trains got its own class 170/3s.
Anglia Railways added 4 more class 170/2s which were used for the new Norwich to Cambridge service. These had the numbers 170 270-273
I think National Express East Anglia now has these class 170s.
The class 170 Turbostar diesel multiple unit was built in Derby by Bombardier Transportation at its Litchurch Lane Works. It is one of about 122 which have come into service since privatization
