..........
Class 153
The class 153s were built as two car units of class 155 by British Leyland in 1987 and 1988. They were later converted around 1991 and 1992 into single car units at Kilmarnock at Hunslet-Barclay.
Anglia unit in Norwich station with the number 52309 on it side and is I think class class 153309 above.
Anglia Railways franchise was between 5th January 1997 and 31st March 2004. It was owned by GB Railways. As well as the Mainline London Liverpool Street to Norwich trains it ran local trains in East Anglia.
In 2003 Anglia Railways had began to repaint its 153s from the BR regional railway colours of grey and blue. Only three of the class 153s were repainted in Anglia colours. The three units repainted were class 153309 Gerard Fiennes class 153322 Bejamin Britten and class 153335 Micheal Palin.
After 1st April 2004 Anglia Railways franchise was transferred to London Eastern Railway Ltd, which is a subsidiary of the National Express Group. It was then re-branded as 'ONE' from the 1st of April in 2004 to 26th February 2008 when it was re-branded as "National Express East Anglia".
This class 153309 was still in the same colours as part of a train from Lowesoft in September 2008.
Class 153309 was now a National Express East Anglia unit, but has only had the Anglia Railways logo removed in 2008. The other 2 car unit is in National Express East Anglia colours. This two plus one set up is often used I think on these trains.
Note the weeds at Norwich station. This is a mainline station do not forget.
