Ketton signal box BR (late 1970s)
This signal box at Ketton was opened in 1900. There was a station here at Ketton named Ketton and Collyweston. The station here closed in 1966. Note the WC on the embankment side with steps up to it.

Ketton signal box in 2010. Note the flowers in plant pots on the ledge. That ledge and hand rail was not there in BR days. The colour has also been changed. The mile post is now yellow is was white.
The box like all the other boxes on this line was going to close in 2017 but is still open February 2020
This Lower quadrant signal at Ketton, must be one of only a few still in use, in easten England on a main line in 20204.
It is on the wrong side (righthand) to give a better view. It is used for trains heading to Oakham

Ketton is on the line from Syston Junction to Peterborough. Most passenger trains are class 170 or 158 units from Birmingham via Leicester to Peterborough March Ely and Cambridge and to Stanstead airport. Container trains and stone hoppers and Ballast are the main freight trains.
