Class 5 at Peterborough NVR station on 11th October 2009

Note the class 5 is in the as was at the end of steam state in the mid to late 1960s (Or as near as todays rules will let you) This engine has been made dirty with dirt added. The paint work normally shines! At the end of steam there would be steam coming out every were. Today it would fail and not run, but then they all leaked, if they moved that was OK. If you saw a clean engine it was just out the shops.

4F 44422 at NVR Peterborough station

4F 44422 at Peterborough Nene Valley Railway station on 11th October 2009. The locomtive was dirty just for this weekend. End of steam grime had been put on the locomtive. Steam for ever, and Do not Scrap Me, had been clalked on just for this end of steam event.
