D6700 at the NVR Diesel Gala 28th and 29th September 2012

D6700 at Orton Mere in 2012

BR Type 3 Class 37 No. D6700 coming into Orton Mere .

This British Railways Type 3, Class 37, No. 6700 diesel-electric locomotive was built for BR by  the English Electric Company in 1960 at its Vulcan Foundry in Newton-le-Willows. It is now at National Railway Museum. It started with the number D6700 and the was numbered 37119 and then 37350 be for being renumbered back to D6700 when it returned to a very clean gross BR green

It was one of the locomotives that came just for this 3 day diesel gala.

This NVR Diesel gala started on the Friday. The trains only used the Mark1s on the Friday. It was a lot better taking photos on the Friday, as most people are at Work!

The video below was taken on at the Nene Valleys Orton Mere station of D6700 at the NVRs Diesel Gala  on Friday the 28th and at the Peterborough NVR station on Saturday the 29th September in 2012. On the Saturday every got off the train, then took some photos and got back on.

The Nene Valley Railway now (2014) runs from Peterborough to Wansford railway station and then on to Yarwell junction. Wansford Station is on part of the old A1 at Stibbingson and is about 2 miles from the village of Wansford itself. The line is about 7 1/2 miles long. It now has the Fletton Branch which is about another mile and a bit.

This website is Ukrailways1970tilltoday.me.uk  it is a webe site on railways, but it is not just on trains, but all things railways, with photos, which I have taken from the 1970s till now. I take photos of all things railways, steam diesel and electric trains,  and signal boxes any thing that is on the National Rail network, which was BR when I started taken photos ot heritage railways.

Today EWS, East Coast, Central trains and EWS are just some of the names on the trains. The name on the train does not mean, thats whos train it is these days. These names keep changing, but that means I have to keep taking photos. I also take photos of preserved railways with steam diesel and electric trains. There is lots more to add and I keep taking More!
