This locomotive is an LNWR Class G 0-8-0 which is numbered 49395 which is its BR number. Its LMS number was 9395 the 4 being added by BR. Its LNWR number was 485. It was built in 1921 at Crewe Works. It is the only one of this class left.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs from Grosmont to Pickering. There are stations at Goathland and Levisham. There is also a halt at Newton Dale.
