Diesel Locomotives on Display
Class 60074 at the open Weekend at Carnforth in 2008
DB/Schenker Class 60 No. 60074 had been named Teenage Spirit in honour of the Teenage Cancer Trust. the locomotive was under the rather rusty footbridge which like a lot of the site could do with a bit of paint. The high gross blue of the locomotive was in stack contrast to the rusty footbridge.
Carnforth Steamtown was one of the main museum site in the UK till around 1997. The major features of the site is its ash plant and the Coaling tower.
These Open days were stopped in 1997 because of commercial activity and the amount of carriages and engines on the site.
Class 40145 at Carnforth in 2008
This class 40 was in BR blue with the all yellow ends and large BR arrows. It is mainline registered,but is in (2013) it was out of traffic,a nd is at at Barrow Hill with to a main generator fault.
Class 86259 at Carnforth openday in 2008.
86259 was built for the original West Coast Main Line electrification scheme at Doncaster in 1966 with the number E3137
This locomotive was on display at the Carnforth 2008 open day looking very smart. It had come from Tyseley, were it had in February 2008 become a main line registered locomotive.
Class 55022 Deltic Royal Scots Grey
Class 47798 with the name Prince William on display at the 2008 open day. This locomotive was for used on the Royal Train in 2008.
