The LMS Class 5 4-6-0 steam locomotive, which is better known as the Black Five, was introduced by William Stanier in 1934. Between 1934 and 1951 there were 842 built. The class survived to the last days of steam on British Railways in 1968. There are 18 of this class of steam locomotves preserved.
This Black 5 no.44871 was built in March 1945 at the Crewe Works of the LMS. This black 5 is now owned by Ian Riley and is mainline certified and is based at the East Lancashire Railway.
Black 5 44871 comes under the fine signal gantry at Bury station on the East Lancashire Railway with a train from Heywood on Saturday the 12th of March 2016, during the 2016 Spring Steam Gala.

This Hundwell Clark and Co. Ltd 0-6-0T was built in 1903 at Leeds. It is called 'Gothenburg' (there were no nameplates on it this day) It is based at the East Lancashire Railway. This locomotive was used on The Manchester Ship Canal.
