There used to be two stations in Lincoln, The Great Northern's Lincoln Central and the Midland railways Lincoln St Marks. Unlike some towns and villages, these stations were right in the middle of the town. Both stations were lest than a mile apart, and both stations had level crossings near to the end of the platforms on the main High street. Today Lincoln Central is the only station at Lincoln. This still has a level crossing on the main High street.
Lincoln is the county town of Lincolnshire and was and still is the hub of the railways in this part of Lincolnshire.
