Class 56 003
Class 56003 in Load Haul colours at the Nene Valley railway in March 2007.
This class 56 number 56003 was purchased from Booths Scrapyard in 2004. It went to the MOD site at Ashchurch were it was returned to working order.
Class 56003 to Class 56312
Class 56003 was renumbered in 2008 at Wansford as 56312 and painted in purple with green letters and full yellow ends round to the doors and named ARTEMIS. This class 56 was then put back back on the Main line with Hanson Traction Ltd now a subsidiarie of British American Railway Services (BARS).
Class 56312 was at Railfest in 2012 at York NRM painted in grey with Railfest 2012 logos on its sides. It was at the Nene Valley Railways Diesel weekend in May 2012 also with these Railfest June 2012 logos on its sides. The Railfest logos have since been removed.

Class 56098
Class 56098 at Wansford raiway station on the Nene Valley railway on the 3rd March 2007
This class 56098 went to the Battlefield Line Railway.
This class 56 is now with UK Rail Leasing at their Leicester Depot in 2016
Class 56098 and 56003 leave Wansford on the Nene Valley railway on the 3rd March 2007 past Wansford signal box and onto the Nene river bridge with a train to Peterborough.
Class 57057
Class 56057 British Fuels out side the shed at Wansford
Class 56057 British Fuels in British Rail blue with full yellow ends and large arrows was on shed at Wansford on the 3rd March 2007. This was one of three class 56s in use that day at the Nene Valley Railway.
This class 56057 was then named as British Fuels, was later to be renumbered 56311 and moved away from the Nene Valley. It is now operated by British American Railway Services
Short history of class 56s
The Class 56 diesel locomotive was designed for heavy freight work. It is a Type 5 locomotive with a Co-Co wheel arrangement. It has a Ruston-Paxman power unit. The class 56 were introduced between 1976 and 1983.
The first 30 class 56s were built by in Romania, but many had to be withdrawn from service early because of poor construction standards.These Romania class 56s were numbered 56001-56030.
The next 105 class 56s locomotives were built by BREL at Doncaster Works numbered 56031 to 56115 and at its Crewe Works with the numbers 56116 to 56135.
