Mixture not Locomotives |
This part of the website has a mixture of some of things that are not engines, that are all to do with the Nene Valley, from when the railway was opened till now.
We start with the Wooden station building that came from the Closed station at Barnwell.
Waiting room at Barnwell station
We move away from the NVR to the village of Barnwell for this page. This is were the Nene Valley Railway got the wooden LNWR waiting room at Wansford station from.
The Station at Barnwell was on the same line to Northampton from Peterborough as Wansford station, it had these two buildings on the Northampton platform. These photos were taken some years after the line here was closed and the track removed.
The wooden LNWR waiting room was moved by road from here by the Nene Valley Railway to Wansford.
The other brick station building at is still in use as a private house.

The waiting room is now on the platform at Wansford station.
The Nene Valley Railway now (2014) runs from Peterborough to Wansford railway station and then on to Yarwell junction. Wansford Station is on part of the old A1 at Stibbingson and is about 2 miles from the village of Wansford itself. The line is about 7 1/2 miles long. It now has the Fletton Branch which is about another mile and a bit.
