Platform 7 was an all new platform that had only opened in 2014. It has been built along side the goods avoiding line and is part of an island platform with platform 6. Both these platforms have no overhead wires and will be used for services like the Liverpool and the Stanstead to Brmingham trains that run mostly on non-wired lines.

One of the main plus points is that this platform and all the others at Peterborough station now have lifts. There is a waiting room and WCs

Freight to and from the March line also also uses this platform.
