Great Western Railway no.6412 in the bay in 2007
This 64xx 0-6-0PT no.6412 was designed by Charles Collett and built at Swindon in 1932 and withdrawn in November 1964. It was preserved in 1965 by the Dart Valley Railway without going to Barry. In 1975 it was sold to the West Somerset Railway Association were it worked a lot of the first trains
This Gala was in the Spring 2007, but 6412 was with drawn later on in 2007, as it needed a major overhaul. In 2008 it was sold to the South Devon Railway Association. Work is well under way on this locomotive. It has now undergone a major restoration at Buckfastleigh. It will hopfully be back in service in early 2015.
