Great Western Railway 2-8-0 no.3850 on the West Somerset Railway
This locomotive is GWR 2884 Class 3850 and was built in Swindon in 1942. Like many of the now saved GWR engines it ended up at Barry scrapyard. It was there for about 20 years, which gave the time to get the money to save it. 3850 came to the West Somerset Railway after being purchased by a Group, which has now become, The Dinmore Manor Locomotive Ltd. It was 20 more years be for it was fully restored.

British Railways Standard 2-6-4T no.80136 on the West Somerset Railway in 2007
155 of these British Railways Standard 2-6-4 tank locomotives which were designed by R A Riddles were built between July 1951 and November 1956. Fiveteen of these British Railways Standard Four tanks have been saved.
This locomotive was at the Crewe Heritage Centre under restoration in 2014

The Great Western Railway 4575 Class is a class of steam locomotive. They are 2-6-2T Small Prairie type based on the 4500 class but with larger side tanks. 100 of these were built by the GWR. Number 5553 was built in 1928 and was in 1962 taken out of traffic and then spent 28 years rotting in Barry scrapyard until it was rescued in 1990. This engine was one of the last one to leave the Barry in 1990.
