Movment ready for the steam Gala
Tornado at Orton Mere station under the Park Way road bridge in the early British Railways blue, just after it had come onto the Nene Valley on Wednesday the 10th of September 2014, ready for the steam gala that weekend.
Having now run round its surport coach a very clean Tornado is ready to head for Wansford.
Tornado had come towed in light steam by two class 20s along the ECML to Peterborough. the 20s took Tornado into Westwood Yard at Peterborogh. They had then come back by way of the down slow and the Fletton Branch and onto the Nene Valley at Orton Mere.
Tornado did not run on the Sunday of the steam gala and I as went to the Derby open day on the Saturday I did not see Tornado at this Gala.
Balfour Beatty class 20s
Class 20 189 in Balfour Beatty colours in Orton Mere station on the Nene Valley Railway.
Class 20 142 in Balfour Beatty colours in Orton Mere station on the Nene Valley Railway
The two Balfour Beatty class 20s, 20189 and 20142 as they were leaving Orton Mere and the Nene Valley, heading for the Derby, ready for the open day on the Saturday.
The Royal Scotsman
About 50 mins later with the sun just going behind the trees, The Royal Scotsman stock came into Orton Mere.
West Coast Railways Class 47854 with the stock of the Royal Scotsman, comes into orton Mere heading for Wansford for an overnight stay at the Nene Valley. Thew train did not stop at Orton Mere. West Coast class 57313 was on the rear of this train. The passengers were in a Hotel in or near Cambridge I think.

The Nene Valley Railway now (2014) runs from Peterborough to Wansford railway station and then on to Yarwell junction. Wansford Station is on part of the old A1 at Stibbingson and is about 2 miles from the village of Wansford itself. The line is about 7 1/2 miles long. It now has the Fletton Branch which is about another mile and a bit.
