Class 89001 Class 58001 Class 33035
Over the weekend of 14th and 15th of July in 2007, Barrow Hill held a Class 20 gala to mark 50 years since the class 20 or English Electric 1000hp Type 1 had entered into traffic with British Railways. This page has some of the Locomotives at the event.

In 1986 this Class 89 no.89001, was the one and only prototype locomotive for a large BR fleet of locomotives that was never ordered.
In September 1989 this class 89 was given the name Avocet. In 1992 the loco was put up for sale and sold to a team of Brush engineers, before being sold again to GNER who used it between 2000 and 2003.
It was moved to Barrow Hill in 2004. In 2006 The AC Locomotive Group purchased the locomotive and painted it in 2007 in the original InterCity Executive livery.

Class 33035
Class 33035 in washed out Network South East colours at Barrow Hill in 2007.
This class 33 no. 33035 in Network Soth East Colours was purchased for preservation in 1997 and moved to Barrow Hill.
The Pioneer Diesel Locomotive Group have now restored this locomotive and have painted it in British Rail Blue livery.It is based at the The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway.
The locomotive was built by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Company in May 1961

This former steam roundhouse is located at Barrow Hill near Chesterfield and was saved by the Barrow Hill Engine Shed Society. The photos on this page were taken in 2007
