Over the weekend of 14th and 15th of July in 2007, Barrow Hill held a Class 20 gala to mark 50 years since the class 20 or English Electric 1000hp Type 1 that had entered into traffic with British Railways. This is the 2nd page of some of the class 20s at this event.
Class 20s have only one cab, and were, and still are often used in pairs, with their cabs on the out side.

Class 20 001 was built in July 1957 with the numer D8001. This locomotive has been saved by the Class 20 Locomotive Society and the locomotive is based at The Midland Railway at Butterley

This class 20 was from the National Railway Museum This class 20050 was D8000 when first built by English Electric in 1957. It was withdrawn in 1981 and was saved by the National Railway Museum at York.
This class 20 is in British Railways dark green and has no yellow warning panels. This is as it would have been when new.
This former steam roundhouse is located at Barrow Hill near Chesterfield and was saved by the Barrow Hill Engine Shed Society. The photos on this page were taken in 2007
