A1 601163 Tornado the new build locomotive was paying its first visit to Barrow Hill near Chesterfield. The photo on this page was taken in April 2009 inside the round house with the new A1 on the turntable

Barrow Hill engine shed is a former Midland Railway steam round house which was called Staveley Roundhouse till 1948.The shed is at Barrow Hill near Chesterfield. It was saved by the members of the Barrow Hill Engine Shed Society when the shed was closed by British Rail in 1991.

Barrow Hill engine shed re-opened in July 1998.
