What a sight for all LNER fans. All we needed was an A3. Barrow Hill was to get them all to come back when the Flying Scotsman was finished. Blue Peter is to return to steam some time after many years, so what a sight we can look forward to in the years to come.

Great Central Railway 8K Class 2-8-0 no.63601 outside Barrow Hill Shed in 2009.

LNER 04 63601 at Barrow Hill Shed in 2009.

This LNER class 04 was in BR black with its British Railways number. This 04 was built by the Great Central Railway at the locomotive works at Gorton in Manchester. It was designed by by John G Robinson

This steam locomotive was on loan to the Great Central railway, who had returned this engine to working order. The 04 is owned by the NRM at York. It is out side of the former steam roundhouse at Barrow Hill which is near Chesterfield
