Lincoln High Street signal box
High Street signal box from the High Street in 2005
This signal box in Lincoln is called High Street and is at the north end of the station. Because the road crossing was and still is so busy a bit was added to the box to give the signal man a better view.
As well as High Street,
East Holmes, West Holmes and
Pelham Street Junction were all closed when Lincoln station has had a major resignalling and a new track layout scheme during the years 2007 to 2008 and the boxes were replaced by a new state of the art signalling centre near to West Holmes box. High street signal box is a listed building. So was not pulled down, see below.
High Street signal box was now looking in a bit of a poor state in 2012, with its widows boarded over. It still has its name boards.
Photo taken from the station.
Hopefully the High street box will not just be be left to decay, High Street signal box is after all a listed building. With the amount of people walking by, its not like some boxes, in the middle of nowere. The box is still here in 2019.
One of the signals at Lincoln station in 2007. This signal was removed when the station was resignaled.
Lincoln is the county town of Lincolnshire and was and still is the hub of the railways in this part of Lincolnshire.
