Whitemoor in BR days
This train was from Middleton Towers and went by way of the joint line to Spalding. It now has to go to Peterborough and then to Doncaster. Notice the mixture of wagons with covered hoppers and what look like iron ore wagons and open hopper wagons. March North signal box has long gone. There is only one track now here into
Network's Rails Distribution Centre from the east.
Class 37118 comes out of Whitemoor yard with a train of tank wagons.
A class 31 on a short freight comes from Peterborough into Whitemoor via the west curve.
The closed March West Junction signal box can be seen in the top right hand corner. Today this the track the 31 is on is the headshunt for Network's Rails Distribution Centre, and the other track is only used today. The track the class 31 is using is now the headshunt.
A pair of class 20s with 20174 leading on a mixed freight at Whitemoor. A class 47 is on another frieght in the background near
Whitemoor Junction signal box. Note the houses in the field which are not in the photo above of the class 37.
These pages in this part are on March in the 1970s, which still had lots of freight from the then still large Whitemoor yard
