Class 60 009 comes into Whitemoor on the Whitemoor open day Sunday in June 2004

The Open day was at the then new Network's Rails Distribution Centre. The event was held in the afternoon. The the yard was working all that day, including in the afternoon with trains like Class 60 009 comes into Whitemoor from the Saturday night's work.

This train of empty hoppers ( used to lay new ballast for track some were) above came in about mid day from Ely direction and came into the yard round the sharp curve from March station,

Work did not stop at the Whitemoor yard while one part was open to the public, the other part of the yard was still working as normal. Being the weekend, Sunday was a busy day, with trains returning after a Saturday nights work, keeping the railways open and safe.

These were some of the wagons at the open day in June 2004 at the then new Network Rails's Distribution Centre, which is on the site of part of The old Whitemoor Yard. Part of the new yard was taped off to let you walk down one side of the yard, but the rest of the yard was working with trains coming in from the Saturday night and Sunday night's work.

The size of this yard is still very large when ones thinks that the Whitemoor Prison takes up a big part of the site of the old yard .
