D5401 is normally based at The Great Central Railway, it was built in 1962 with the number D5401 becoming class 27112 when it was used on the Edinburgh to Glasgow push pull trains. Then later it it had the number 27056
As 27056 it was withdrawn in February 1987. it ended up at Northampton Steam Railway then in the early 1990s it went to the Caledonian Railway be for going to The Great Central Railway.

During the March 2009 Diesel weekend Nene Valley based class 31 271 is about to hand over the token as it comes over the level crossing and comes into Wansford station on the Saturday with a train from Peterborough
