 GWR 2-8-0T 5224 in BR black at Orton Mere

This 2-8-0T no.5224 is owned by Pete Waterman and is a GWR 5205 class tank locomotive. it is now based at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. It was based on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway, but it left there at the end of 2004, so it may have come from there in 2002 for this short visit to the Nene Valley. It looked very smart in its unlined BR black on a freight in Orton Mere station in 2002.

This tank locomotive was built by Fablok of Chrzanow in Poland in 1959, It then worked in the coal feilds for 36 years in Poland till it was withdrawn, when the coal mine it was at, closed down in 1995.
