North Weald signal box and the platform

North Weald signal box and some of platform 1, showing what a good job they are making of this station.

This box is the original 1888 Great Eastern Railway signalbox.  The box is painted in the 1940 to 1960s LNER and Eastern Region colours. It took from 2007 to 2012 to restore it to this state. The box is on the platform at North Weald railway station.
Ongar signal box

The signal box at Ongar did not fair so well. It was demolished by London Transport in the early 1980s.

The Epping and Ongar have got the top half of a signal box called Spelbrook from the Mangapps Railway Museum. It has now been put on a base at Ongar station, were it has been restored to its fomer glory.
