This Great Western 28xx class 2-8-0 heavy freight steam  locomotive was built by the Great Western Railway at its Swindon locomotive works were it was completed in October 1905.  2807 was withdrawn from service by British Railways and ended up at Barry scrap yard in November 1963. It was to remain there for over 17 years. Cotswold Steam Preservation Limited rescued this locomitive in June 1981.
 
Gotherington station is a privately owned station on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway which was open for this event.

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway has saved a part of the former Great Western Railways mainline from Birmingham via Stratford-upon-Avon to Cheltenham.  The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway runs trains between the Cheltenham Race Course station at Cheltenham to Broadway. It now has stations at Gotherington Winchcombe and  Hails Abbey Halt and Toddington and Broadway (Broadway station only reopened in 2018 ).

This British Railways Standard class 9F 2-10-0 steam locomotive number 92214 was built by British Railways at its Swindon locomotive works were it was completed in 1959.  92214 was withdrawn from service by British Railways in 1965 and then ended up at Peak Rail at Buxton.
 
In 2010 No.92214 moved to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
 
The Locomotive is now based at The Great Central Railway and had come from there for this event.
 
This 9F is painted in British Railways green a colour only 9F Evening Star was painted in in BR days, all the other 9F's were painted in BR black. The 9Fs were a freight locomotive, but did haul some pasenger trains.
