0-4-0ST number 90432 at Orton Mere. The Nene valley painted its mark ones in black and white with Nene Valley Railway in full on the side at the start. This was before painting them later in blood and custard. There was just the one platform and no station building at Orton Mere when I took this photo.

This engine 90432 a Barclay 0-4-0ST was at the Nene Valley from 1972 to 1991. It then went to Shepherdswell on the The East Kent Railway . The locomotive is near to were Yarwell station was to be built later.
This Barclay 0-4-0ST 90432 was at the Nene Valley for a number of years right from the start.
A man stands with his dog and child to watch Jacks Green and Green King on one of the first of Nene valley's Santa trains at Orton Mere. Which at this time only went from Wansford to Orton Mere and returned after the engines had run round their train.
"Greene King" is a Southern Railway Class S15 no. 841. This locomotive was at the Nene Valley from 1977 to 1978 and is now based on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

SJ class S1 2-6-4T number 1928 which has now been named Alan Gladden. This engine was at the Nene Valley from 1973 to 1989.
Orton Mere station was built by the Nene Valley Railway and had only one platform at first. There is a now a brick station building with a small cafe for tea and ice creams. When the railway first ran a small temporary building was used at first. Orton Mere was the terminus for the Peterborough end of the line for a few years. Engines running round their train and then returning to Wansford. The NVRs Peterborough station was not added till later on. The flyover above the station is for The "Parkway" road bridge which goes over the railway and also the river Nene.
