As can be seen from the other pages in this part, the platform at Sherringham main line staion was very short! The new greater Anglia trains are too long for this station.
The platforms were being rebuilt longer, on my visit to the North Norfolks Steam Gala on the other side of the road, on the 6th of April 2019.

The Platform had been removed and steel piles were being put in. The station and the line from Cromer were closed for about six weeks and Rail replacment buses used. I had used one of these buses to get to Sherringham for the NNR Steam Gala on the 6th of April 2019

Bittern Line

The Bittern Line is a Community Railway Partnership that supports and publicises the railway from Sheringham to Cromer and Norwich. This Partnership was formed by Norfolk County Council and the then local railway company back in 1997. The line has got busier and trains now run every hour at peak times and can be very full on Saturdays when the NNR has a big day and holiday makers are going to the seaside at Sheringham and Cromer. Passengers also go shopping at Norwich. The Community Railway Partnership has not only kept the line open, but got more passengers and trains running.
