Hitchin railway station is on the East Coast Main Line. There is a junction to Cambridge and Kings Lynn just to the north of the station. There is now a fly over here so trains to Cambridge do not hold up trains on the ECML
The Thames Link and Great Norther trains stop at all stations trains between Peterborough and Stevenage. These trains now use the Class 700 EMUs . These trains stop at just some of the stations south of Hitchin to Kings Cross or now to South London, not using Kings Cross at all. The local Kings Lynn and Cambridge trains also stop at Hitchin. Some of these Thameslink trains speed though on the fast lines.
LNER now run the main intercity trains on the East Coast in 2019.
Next station North is Arlesey
Next station south on ECML is Stevenage
