1501 is a GWR 0-6-0 pannier tank locomotive that was built by British Rail Western Region to the Great Weston Railway design. It is in British Railways lined Black with the early British Railways emblem.
The 1500 class locomotive was designed by Frederick W. Hawksworth. This locomotive after being withdrawn by BR was sold to the National Coal Board and used at Coventry Colliery. It was saved by the Severn Valley Railway were it is still based.
