Derby station is a major hub on the network. It was the headquarters of The Midland Railway. Midland Mainline was runing trains to London and North to Sheffield in 2006. Central Trains was runing its trains to Nottingham and the east as well as to Birmingham and Cardiff. It also ran trains to Matlock.
