Derby station is a major hub on the network. It was the headquarters of The Midland Railway. East Midland Trains runs trains to London and North to Sheffield as well as to Matlock. Cross Country runs trains to Nottingham and the east as well as to Birmingham and Cardiff. Cross Country runs trains from Edinburgh and Newcastle to the south and to Bristol and Penzance.
