The goods avoiding line
This Page is about the new goods avoiding line opened in 2014 . This has been put in as part of the upgrade at Peterborough railway station. Trains can run both ways but must go or come from the March line. They can go any way going north, to the stamford line or the ECML or into Westwood yard.
Platform 6 and 7, the new Island platform was built, were the old goods loops were, along side platform 5, so the goods avoiding lines had to be moved. This one new line is along side the new platform 7. Like platforms 6 and 7 it has no overhead wires.
