This part of The East Coast Main Line at Werrington is just to the north of Peterborough and there were water troughs here in steam days. The line to Stamford runs a long side the East Coast Main Line (ECML) here.
The level crossing here on Hurn Road between Marholm and Werrington was closed and replaced by a very tall footbridge from which I took these photos from.
Thhe down line to Stamford is wired from Peterborough to Helpston crossing, and this also acts as the ECML down slow befor re-joining the ECML at Helpston.
Werrington Junction
At Werrington Junction the Line to Spalding and Sleaford leaves the ECML.
In June 2014 Network Rail announced that they were considering whether to build a flyover or a under pass, under the East Coast Main Line at Werrington Junction.
Network Rail had said in 2018 that it is to build a dive under called 'The Werrington Grade Separation' from the Stamford line under the ECML to the Spalding line(GNR loop).
