Swinderby level crossing gates on the 14th of September 2020
These level clossing gates are still worked by hand and are only just over one one car wide. When the local bus came over there was little space each side. There are still upper quadrant signals here.
Network Rail is planing to do a major resignalling project between Newark and Lincoln. This will mean that Swinderby mechanical signal box will be closed and the gates will be replaced as they are now worked by the signal man.
The date has yet to be set, but this crossing days will soon be history and barriers will replace the wooden gates worked from Lincoln or even the York signal centre.
