This was I think a trail run By Virgin to make sure its own train was OK, on the day be for the real Flying Scotsman (steam) made its first run from Kings Cross along the East Coast Main line

A3 60103 Flying Scotsman had come though Peterborough that afternoon on its way to Kings Cross that same afternoon with its surport coach

The Flying Scotsman was to be back in Peterborough the next day Thursday the 25th February 2016 with THE INAUGURAL RUN from Kings Cross when the platforms were full of people and TV

This Page is about the re-numbered Platform 3 which is now called platform 2. This platform has been made longer at the south end and now has lifts and new waiting rooms and is now part of a new island platform with  a new platform 3 on the up fast line

Platform 2 is used for the new 12 coach Thameslink servies to South London and Gatwick Airport which started in 2018, as well as LNER London trains and EMT Lincoln trains.
