Blotoft signal box in BR days

This is Blotoft signal box on the Great Northern and Great Eastern joint line from Lincoln to Spalding in BR days. This signal box was opened in 1882 and is on Helpringham Fen between Sleaford and Spalding. This photo was taken in the late 1970s. Note the name with a space between the T and the O.

The name of this box was Blotoft Siding or it may still be. When the siding was removed was the name changed.

The box was re-clad with UPVC as the wood was rottern in about 2003.

This signal box is going to close. July 2014 may be? The GNR loop from Peterborough to Doncaster will soon be controled from the  Lincoln signal centre.

When the new York signal centre opens, the Lincoln Signal centre will all so close and York will take over all the GNR loop.
