Blotoft signal box in BR days
Blotoft signal box was on the Great Northern and Great Eastern joint line from Lincoln to Spalding. The photo above was taken in BR days in the late 1970s. This signal box was opened in 1882 and is on Helpringham Fen, which is between Sleaford and Spalding. Note the name with a space between the T and the O.
The name of this box was Blotoft Siding. When the siding was removed, the name was changed.
The box was re-clad with UPVC as the wood was rottern in about 2003.

This signal box closed in 2014. The GNR loop from Peterborough to Doncaster is now controled from the Lincoln signal centre.
The Lincoln Signal centre will all so close when The York signal centre will take overcontrol of all of the GNR loop.

Helpingham signal box opened in 1882 and closed in 1982. it was between Blotoft signal box and Sleaford South signal box
